Ok ok ok… So I got over excited and promised everyone a post on gender – then I freaked out and put it off and stalled all posting. I thought, how am I as a cis woman going to possibly write about this concept in a relatable way? I’ve come up with a million drafts and deleted them all. So fail writing a boring academic-style essay on the topic, it’s going in the ‘later’ basket. I’m going to approach some people and communities to write up what they think is important and a few of their experiences. Also, I would like to know what questions you guys have about this.
To give you a bit of a guideline as to what I mean by ‘gender’, I will state here and now that, I am an ally to those who fit into binary (two) gender, those whose gender does not match their physical/biological sexual organs, those who are gender fluid and those who just don’t give a fuck. Biological sexual organs, gender identity, and sexual orientation are entirely separate things. A person should always be called the name they wish to be called by and have the pronouns they desire used in reference to them. He/She/They/Xe are all valid. No one is less than. Even if you don’t understand it, don’t criticise it. Love each other!
And now that massive source of anxiety is over, you can look forward to much more frequent posting!
